A Before & After Story: Making a Living Room More Livable

This week we're sharing a new episode of WandaVision
(with assistance from her sidekick, Kate)!
A modern take on a traditional Federal Style Home

before and after livable living room

From the walls to the floors to the furniture, Wanda and Kate created a room that is casual but still elegant. It's a very livable living room now.

You'll notice in the original room, all the furniture was situated on the rug at the end of the room which made the space look smaller. Also, as you entered the room you were greeted with the backs of the two chairs (which didn't feel very welcoming) and the chairs weren't facing the focal point of the room....the fireplace.

Wanda and Kate started this makeover by stripping and lightening the floors and painted out all of the trims to be the same as the wall color (Farrow & Ball's Elephant's Breath) to bring a quietness to the room.

Wanda & Kate introduced new modern elements to the room (like the new area rugs, the Fishbone Buffet Lamps, Fiona Coffe Table in Fruitwood, Nora Chairs, & Hannah Sofa) which took years off this space!

By adding the John Derian Field Bench and changing the furniture layout and rug placement Wanda was not only able to divide the room, but also open it up and provide more seating in front of the fireplace. It's a much more expansive and inviting space now...don't you think?

Excellent design! Can you please tell me how the floors were treated? We’re they sanded and left unfinished?

Excellent makeover; however, I am wondering why the sofa etc are not facing the fireplace rather than pushed over to the side of the room.

I love the artwork on the wall. Could you tell me more about it? I have a wall that could use something just like that!
