"This sea chest, according to family legend, was used by Ezra Lummus when he set sail from Salam, Massachusetts aboard the brig "Richmond". Young Ezra became ill of "the fever" and died on July 12, 1838 at the age of eighteen. He died in Majunga, Madagascar. His sea chest was returned to Eastern Massachusetts where is has remained.
